I have a lot of favorite things, but one of them is definitely this guy:
It’s rare that we get to spend time together just the two of us nowadays. While we love our boys and definitely prefer spending most of our time together as a family, it’s nice to get out as a couple once in awhile and just enjoy each other.
We had the good fortune to be able to go out on a date last Friday for his birthday. The school has a parents’ night out every six weeks or so and we always take advantage. Our new favorite thing to do for date nights is to go to Studio Movie Grill. It combines our two favorite date night activities, dinner and a movie, into one! The food there is really good and on par with what we would spend at a traditional restaurant. Plus we don’t have to rush through dinner to make it to a certain showtime; dinner is brought to us whenever we order it. We can enjoy food and drinks and a very attentive wait staff while watching our movie of choice. I love it.
We ended up seeing Olympus Has Fallen. It was really good, albeit a bit predictable. If you like political shoot-em-up action movies, then you’ll love this one. Plus, Gerard Butler. That’s all I’m saying, ladies.
After our movie date we ended up going to the grocery store (so lame, I know) to get the boys’ Easter basket stuff since they weren’t with us. Have you ever tried to buy candy for your children while WITH your children, and attempt to hide said candy from said children? It doesn’t work well. Then we collected our sleeping boys and went home.
We’re pretty simple people with simple pleasures. Dinner and a movie and adult conversation, when we can get it, is one of our very favorite things. And I love that guy so much. I mean, look at him. But don’t look too hard, because MINE.
What’s your ideal version of date night?
