Toddle Along Tuesday: Kids and Pets

I don’t really have a lot of photos of our kids with our animals.  I wish I had taken more photos of our boys with the cat, because sadly I think he has gone on to that big litter box in the sky.  He is/was an outside cat, and we haven’t seen him since July 15 and he never leaves the house for very long.  He was 18 years old, so I am pretty sure he made his final voyage.  I am sad even though I didn’t really like him.  I still look for him in the driveway when I get home every evening.  I wonder how much longer I’ll do that. But anyway. Enough with the sad stuff. {sniff sniff}

So, inspired by the recent loss of our cat, and also by this week’s Toddle Along Tuesday topic, I took some pictures of Cole and our pups last night while Zac was outside grilling hot dogs.  Cole has really taken an interest in the dogs recently.  He’ll pet them every night before he goes to bed, saying “I sure do love to pet these puppies!”  Tonight when he was playing with them outside he would say to them, “I sure do love you, puppies!”

Oscar is eating up all the attention.

I’m really glad that Cole wants to play with the dogs now.  He went through a phase recently where he was afraid that they were going to get him every time he walked by.  We thing this stemmed from a time when he stepped on Oscar {stripes} in the dark and he yelped really loud and scared Cole.  I’m glad he seems to be over that now.

Of course our chocolate lab Shelby is a perpetual blur, so it was really hard to get a photo of Cole with her.

We love those sweet puppies, even though they are a bit stinky and track mud through the house when it rains.  It’s just carpet, right?  Do you have any pets?  How do your kids like them?  Head on over to Growing Up Geeky and join the link-up!
